Tesla’s top boss, Elon Musk, has tweeted out that the Model S Plaid+ won’t go into production. The incredible performance of the Model S Plaid, which Musk says is “just so good!”, has led to this move.

Not so long ago, the Model S Plaid+ was seen doing a few hot laps at the Laguna Seca Circuit in California with an active rear wing. It clocked a lap time of 1 minute and 29.9 seconds around the 3.60km circuit, which is a lap record.

While the Plaid+’s performance is quite close to the standard Plaid, the former’s standout point was its 800km-plus range, all thanks to Tesla’s latest battery technology and marginally improved performance. In contrast, the Plaid is capable of doing over 600km on a single charge.

Performance-wise though, the Model S Plaid is more than up to the task with its insane numbers. Powered by three electric motors, it puts out a whopping 1034PS, good enough to take the sedan from 0-100kmph in just 1.99 seconds!
