The Jimny is expected to replace the Gypsy and will be powered by the same 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that will be seen on the new Ciaz

Suzuki's announcement of reviving the iconic Jimny sent us into a frenzy. Now, details and prices of the fourth-gen Jimny have leaked online ahead of its launch next month, giving us an indication of its expected pricing in India. Set to go on sale 20 years after its last update, the Jimny is said to be offered in two versions - Jimny and Jimny Sierra, with the former coming under Japan's Kei (small car) category, while the latter will be the one sold around the world.

Powering the Jimny Sierra will be the company's 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, which produces 102PS of power and 130Nm of torque. This is the same engine that might power the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Not surprisingly, this is a major improvement from the Jimny's previous 1.3-litre engine, which was only good for 85PS of power and 110Nm of torque. We're expecting it to come with a 5-speed manual transmission as before, along with an optional 4-speed automatic gearbox.

Coming back to the pricing, the leaked details state that the Jimny Sierra will be retailed for 1,760,400 Japanese Yen (approx Rs 10.88 lakh). However, the India-bound version might cost around Rs 8 lakh and will ditch active safety features like autonomous braking but twin airbags, ABS and ISOFX child seat mounts will likely be a part of standard equipment..
