Nissan India has announced a price hike of 2-4 percent across its range from January 2014. Nissan says that the decision has been taken to negate impact of rupee depreciation and rising input costs.
Richard D Spitzer, Acting Chief Operating Officer (COO), Hover Automotive India (Nissan’s National Sales Company) said, “Although the rupee situation seems to have stabilised, the higher exchange rate has impacted costs all-round, making price increase inevitable. Inflation-led rise in input costs and raw materials costs also cannot be ignored at this point. The price increase is marginal and we assure our valued customers that we will continue to offer them globally renowned products at affordable prices.”
Nissan produces and sells the Micra, Micra Active, Sunny, Terrano and Evalia in India. All these models will receive revised prices next month. The Terrano is off to a good start averaging around 3,000 units per month since its launch. The facelift of the Micra hasn’t helped it much with sales falling under the 1,000 mark and the Sunny isn’t doing too well either. Nissan’s Evalia is recording only double digit sales every month despite the recent updates it received.
