In a bid to improve charging infrastructure across the country, MG Motor India has tied up with Tata Power to extend its network of fast chargers. As part of the agreement, Tata Power will install 50kW DC Superfast chargers at MG’s dealerships. These chargers can be utilised by ZS EV owners as well as owners of other EVs that are compatible with CCS and CHAdeMO charging standards.
The main aim of the partnership is to expand charging infrastructure across the country. Currently, MG has 10 fast chargers set up across five cities including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore. With the ZS EV now available in six more cities, expect the carmaker to install fast chargers at its dealerships in these locations too.
The partnership between MG and Tata Power will also explore the possibility of second life usage of EV batteries. It simply means that once an EV battery reaches the end of its first life, it can be repurposed for various applications including storing energy from renewable sources of electricity.
