Lamborghini has revealed pictures and details of the Huracan within a month of the end to the Gallardo’s production. The car will make it’s public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014.
The Huracan derives its name, as the tradition goes, from a famous Spanish bull, known for ‘its courage and strong sense of attack.’ While the Huracan is expected to tear up corners like every Lambo does, the company says that this time, it won’t be a handful on road as the car will have easy-to-drive road behaviour.
The Huracan borrows design cues from the Estoque 4-door sedan concept shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2008, especially the headlights and the front bumper. While the overall styling is edgy, the front and rear of the Huracan is clearly defined by strong horizontal lines. The slats in the rear windshield remind us of the legendary Miura.

The car has been built from the grounds up with a new hybrid aluminium-carbon fibre chassis, yet the Huracan is marginally heavier than the Gallardo. But the Huracan LP610-4, as the full name is, delivers 610HP of power at 8,250rpm and 560 Nm of torque at 6,500rpm from the 5.2-litre V10 engine to all four wheels, over 50HP more than its predecessor. The Huracan can reach a top speed of 325kph and hit the ton from standstill in 3.2 seconds. It goes on to touch 200kph in just 9.9 seconds according to the Lamborghini release.
The Huracan gets a 7-speed DCT and paddle shifters with an electronically controlled 4WD program. Three driving modes will control the Huracan’s character – Strada, Sport and Corsa.
It’s predecessor, the Gallardo was Lamborghini’s most successful model till date, with 14,022 units produced during its 10 year tenure.
