Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai’s new SUV, the Tucson will be launched in India in the next few months and will be priced at a starting point of Rs 18 lakh. The new Hyundai Tucson is in its second coming in India as the original Tucson was launched in India over a decade ago. The new Tucson will come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine which will also make it eligible to be sold in the NCR region of North India that has effectively banned the sale of any diesel cars that are over the 2.0-litre mark.

Continuing on the engines, internationally, the Tucson gets two stages of tune on the 2.0-litre engine. The base model gets 136PS of peak power and 373Nm of peak torque. The engine also gets a top of the line variant with 185PS of peak power with 400Nm of peak torque. Engines are mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic with both front wheel drive and all-wheel-drive options.

The Hyundai Tucson will be placed in a price bracket which will see it go up against a variety of SUVs. The cheaper variants will go up against the likes of the XUV500 and the Tata Hexa while the top of the line variants will go up against the likes of the upcoming SsangYong Tivoli and the base models of the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Chevrolet Trailblazer. The new Hyundai Tucson could also probably get a single petrol engined variant that could cater to a few audiences in certain cities.
