Hyundai to showcase new infotainment system at CES

India might still be in the nascent stages of adopting touchscreen infotainment systems in mainstream cars but the world is moving on to adopting of smartphone like systems for your in car entertainment. It may not be a long wait for us too if Hyundai’s Display Audio System is any good as Hyundai says that it will eventually make it to entry level cars as well.

The new infotainment system Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to all Hyundais. Both Android and Apple have been vying a pie of car infotainment systems for their massive potential. Carmakers haven’t gone the whole hog to adopt screens similar to ones developed by smartphone manufacturers till now but their application, affordability and user friendly nature are finally beginning to appeal to carmakers who do now do not have to spend billions of dollars to develop their own systems but merely integrate them with Android or Apple.

The first extensive results will be seen on Hyundai cars. Once the car gets this Display Audio System, it will get access to a substantial number of applications developed on either of the two operating systems. In addition to the usual navigation systems, all travel applications and various entertainment apps. When it comes to India, its integration with Android Auto will make it quite interesting for the majority of owners who use Android devices.
