Chopra is the second Indian after Abhinav Bindra to secure a gold medal in the Olympics

Rewards are pouring in for gold medalist Neeraj Chopra after he secured India’s first gold medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics game. And it’s no surprise that Anand Mahindra, who is known for gifting breakthrough achievers with Mahindra SUVs, has promised to handover a new XUV700 to the 23-year-old athlete.

To make his gift even more special for the Gold Medalist, Mahindra could give Chopra a one-off special edition XUV700. Pratap Bose, the new Chief Design Officer at Mahindra, has tweeted out “So many awesome suggestions coming in for the Special Edition of the #NeerajGoldChopra @MahindraXUV700! We have some ideas cooking at the @MahindraRise Design studios! Will share more soon!”

The final specifications of this one-off XUV700 is still under wraps, but we believe it will be limited to aesthetics, with special design touches and bespoke upholstery options.

Chopra secured India’s first gold medal in this edition of the Olympics in the ‘Men's Javelin Throw’ category. He is the first track and field athlete to secure a gold medal for the country. Coming back to the XUV700, the upcoming three-row SUV, which also debuts Mahindra’s new logo, is slated for launch soon. It will be more powerful, technologically advanced and feature loaded than before. At an expected starting price of Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom), the XUV700 will rival the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and the Hyundai Alcazar.
