The Bolt EV will be cheaper than the Tesla Model 3

Chevrolet Bolt Electric Vehicle

Since fossil fuel is scarce, electric vehicles (EV) are the next big move for major car manufacturers. General Motors have made a big move in the global electric car space by announcing the price of the Chevrolet Beat EV in the States. The price of the car is around Rs 20 lakh (under $30,000). The Beat EV was showcased at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The price of the least expensive Bolt starts at $37,495 (Rs 25.1 lakh) before taking into account a $7,500 (Rs 5 lakh) federal tax credit which, GM said, means that it would sell the car for $29,995 (Rs 20 lakh). Comparatively, the car would be almost $5,000 (Rs 3.35 lakh) cheaper than the Tesla Model 3.

GM claims that the Bolt EV has a driving range of around 383km on a full battery charge, which is apparently 37km of more range than the Tesla Model 3. The Bolt will remain almost true to its concept that was shown at the CES earlier this year and will have features like a smiling front grille, sleek LED headlamps, a sloping roof and sharp contours. GM also plans to deliver Bolts to its ride-sharing services partner Lyft.

In order to commence promotions for the Bolt, General Motors has launched a website has launched a website where buyers can calculate the number of miles driven daily and how much going electric would save them. The car's cause has been further boosted by Apple Inc. co-founder expressing interest in the electric Bolt.
