Tata Motors will soon launch a new mid-spec XM+ variant of the Altroz as revealed in a leaked document. It sits in between the XM and XT variants. The Altroz XM+ can be had with both petrol and diesel engines, with deliveries for the latter set to begin in December. The XM+ petrol can be picked up soon after launch which could happen in the coming days.

The Altroz XM+ comes with additional features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering-mounted audio controls, 16-inch steel wheels with full wheel caps, keyless entry and voice recognition functionality. Carryover features from the base variants include power windows, drive modes, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
While it comes with all the equipment one would need, it misses out on niceties such as automatic climate control, cruise control, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a cooled glove box as well as auto headlamps and wipers. Naturally, this is to be expected as the Altroz XM+ sits lower down in the variant lineup.
The Altroz XM+ will be offered with an 86PS 1.2-litre petrol unit and a 90PS 1.5-litre diesel engine. A 5-speed manual transmission is the only gearbox on offer. It can be had in four monotone colours: Highstreet Gold, Avenue White, Downtown Red and Midtown Grey. The Skyline Silver shade has been given a miss here.
The Altroz XM+ is expected to come right in time for the ongoing festive season. The presence of a touchscreen infotainment in the XM+ makes it all the more appealing, but we feel this move could be due to the imminent launch of the third-gen i20, one of the Altroz’ prime rivals. Its other competitors include the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Honda Jazz.
