Ducati Crosses 1000 Motorcycles Sales Milestone In India

Ducati India’s market share has grown from 6.4 to 7.7 percent and the company will be launching five new models in 2017

Ducati India has registered 18 percent hike in sales figures in 2016 while the market grew by 4.6 percent. The market share of the Italian bikemaker has grown from 6.4 to 7.7 percent, with the Ducati Multistrada comprising 89 percent of the total share in its category. 

Out of the total bikes sold by Ducati in 2016, the popular Monster continues to be the sales driver with 19 per cent of the total share. TheDiavel Dark and Carbon account for 17 percent and the recently launched 959 Panigale accounts for 12 percent of the total share, inspite of the bike being launched in July 2016. The most accessible bike from Ducati, the Scrambler accounted for 38 percent growth in sales over the previous year while the adventure touring category with displacement higher than 1000cc grew by 127 percent in 2016. Ducati also crossed 1000 motorcycles sales milestone in India.

The consistent addition of new models by Ducati, like the XDiavel, Multistrada 1200 Enduro, Hyperstrada 939 and Hypermotard 939, have also enhanced the sales figures. Ducati gained 1.2 percent of growth in 2016, selling 55,451 motorcycles to customers worldwide compared to 54,809 motorcycles in 2015. 

Managing Director of Ducati India, Ravi Avalur, said: “Our growth has confirmed Ducati’s ability to excite the Indian market. In 2017 we will have a robust network of ten dealerships across the country. The Ducatisti community is also growing with three Desmo Owners Clubs operational and two more in the pipeline. We’re looking forward to a great 2017 for Ducati.”
