Ducati Multistrada 1200S Road Test Review

Is the Multistrada 1200 really the all-rounder Ducati says it is? The Italian bike maker says the new Multistrada is not just an adventure tourer, but four motorcycles bundled into one. The bike is powered by the latest version of Ducati’s highly-acclaimed 1200cc, liquid-cooled V-twin engine that also powers its 1299 Panigale and the Diavel. With 162PS on offer, the Multistrada can shame superbikes in a straight line with its performance, while offering far better comfort to let you be in the saddle for hours at a stretch. Ducati also claims that as a motorcycle, the new generation Multistrada 1200 makes for a heady mix that will keep various types of riders enthused, taking care of wants like manic acceleration, supreme comfort, nimble handling, apart from its gorgeous, typically Italian design. Its direct rivals are the Triumph Tiger Explorer and the BMW R1200GS, though it also goes up against bikes like the Suzuki V-Strom 1000, Kawasaki Versys 1000 and the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin. We put the fully-loaded Multistrada 1200S with the semi-active Ducati Skyhook Suspension through a thorough road test to assess it and see how well it holds true to the manufacturer’s claim, and the results are interesting!
