The Jogger is the spiritual successor the Lodgy that was discontinued in India in 2020

Dacia, Renault’s European sub-brand, has unveiled the Jogger, its new people mover that spiritually succeeds the Lodgy. The Jogger is known for its practical nature and can be had either as a 5-seater or a more practical 7-seater. Here are five things you need to know about this people mover:

Exterior

At first glance, the Jogger looks more like a beefed up Sandero (a Dacia hatch sold in Europe) as the headlamps and grille are very similar. However, the beefier front bumper with skid plates gives the MPV a butch look. At the side, the rakish A-pillar flows to a tall roof that drops sharply down, which gives it a typical MPV stance. The haunch above the rear wheels adds a dash of muscle. Topping up the design touch is the LED tail lamps that look similar to the Volvo XC90.

Fun Fact: You can adjust the position of the roof rails depending on the type of load you are carrying.

Interior

Inside, the Jogger’s dashboard has been lifted off from the Sandero hatch, which ain’t a bad thing. The floating infotainment system, climate control knobs, steering wheel, and even the instrument cluster are identical. This would allow Dacia to save costs as after all, it’s a budget brand. But the design can’t be faulted as it looks modern.

The main party piece is the split-folding second and third row, which allows you to adjust the seats in 60 combinations depending on your usage. With all three rows up, the MPV offers a boot space of 213 litres while folding the third row takes that number up to 712 litres. With all rows down (or removed) you’ll have a whopping 1819 litres of space.

Features On Board

The Jogger gets all bases covered with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls, cruise control, and a 3.5-inch multi-info display.

Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking, and driver assistance features like emergency brake assist, blind spot warning, park assist, and hill-start assist.

Engine Options

The Jogger is offered with a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine in either standard or LPG option. The engine puts out 110PS and 200Nm, and can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission.

In 2023, the people mover will be offered with a hybrid powertrain, making it the first Dacia hybrid model. It will pair a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor.  While specifications are yet to be revealed, Dacia says the Jogger hybrid will be capable of running on pure EV mode in the city for 80 percent of the time.

India Launch And Rivals

It’s unlikely that Renault will launch the Jogger in India as the Lodgy’s successor. If it does come here, though, it will most likely be priced in the ballpark of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo.
