Check Out All The Top Cars Launched In September 2024

The month of September saw significant activity in the Indian auto market. We not only witnessed the debut of new models but also saw releases of special editions of some popular cars. With that being said, here are the top cars that were launched in September 2024.

Tata Curvv

Tata kicked off September with the launch of the ICE-powered Curvv. Priced from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), the Curvv is offered across four broad trims and three engine options. Design-wise, it resembles the Curvv EV with a sloping roofline, connected LED DRLs, and tail lights, but includes distinct elements to differentiate it from its all-electric counterpart.

The Curvv comes equipped with features such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats. Key safety features include a 360-degree camera system, level 2 ADAS, and front and rear parking sensors. Powertrain-wise, you can choose between two turbo-petrol engine choices and a single diesel option. Deliveries for the Tata Curvv are underway.

2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

Hyundai launched the 2024 Alcazar facelift with exterior styling elements inspired from the updated Creta. Prices range from Rs 14.99 lakh to Rs 21.40 lakh (ex-showroom), and it continues to be offered with the same petrol and diesel engine options as the previous model. New features in the 2024 Alcazar include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, wireless phone chargers for both front and second-row passengers, and an electric boss mode, which increases legroom for second-row passengers.

Safety features now include Level-2 ADAS, introducing adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking. The 2024 Alcazar renews its rivalry with the Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari.

MG Windsor EV

MG launched the Windsor EV in India this September. A unique aspect of the Windsor EV is its pricing, which starts at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, you need to pay MG an additional Rs 3.5 per kilometre for the vehicle's battery. If you are interested in paying for the entire vehicle upfront, prices start at Rs 13.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Windsor EV is equipped with a single 38 kWh battery pack paired with a 136 PS electric motor, offering a claimed range of 331 km. Key features include a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, a panoramic glass roof, ventilated front seats, 256-colour ambient lighting, and a wireless phone charger. Given its pricing, it serves as an alternative to the Tata Punch EV, Tata Nexon EV, and Mahindra XUV400.

Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG

Maruti Suzuki introduced the CNG variants of the 2024 Swift, four months after launching the fourth-gen model. The factory-fitted CNG variants come at a premium of Rs 90,000 over the standard versions and are available in three trims: Vxi, Vxi (O), and Zxi.

While it misses out on some top-spec features, it does include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted audio controls, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, and keyless entry with push-button start. The 1.2-litre petrol engine delivers 69.75 PS and 101.8 Nm in CNG mode, with a claimed mileage of 32.85 km per kg. It takes on the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG and the Tata Tiago CNG. 

Tata Nexon CNG

After revealing it at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024, Tata Motors finally launched the Nexon CNG at Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 100 PS and 170 Nm in CNG mode, making it the first CNG-equipped vehicle in India to be paired with a turbo-petrol engine.

The Nexon CNG is also available with features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and dual 10.25-inch screens for the touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver's display. Its safety features include 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, rain-sensing wipers, hill-hold control, and ABS with EBD. Prices for the top-spec Nexon CNG go up to Rs 14.59 lakh (ex-showroom).

Updated Tata Nexon EV

Tata also updated long-range variants of the Nexon EV with a larger 45 kWh battery pack and new features. These variants are now priced between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom), including the 40 kWh battery pack variants. This update makes the long-range Nexon EV more affordable by Rs 60,000, which is now offered from Creative trim onwards.

The 45 kWh battery pack is coupled with a 145 PS / 215 Nm electric motor, offering a claimed range of 489 km. There are no changes made to the smaller 30 kWh or 40 kWh battery pack options. The update also introduces a panoramic sunroof for the Nexon EV. Additionally, Tata launched the Red Dark Edition of the Nexon EV, priced at Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom), featuring a Carbon Black exterior shade with a black and red cabin theme.

Mahindra Thar Roxx 4x4 

After launching the Thar Roxx in August, Mahindra has finally revealed the prices for the four-wheel-drive variants of the 5-door off-roader. The Thar Roxx 4x4 is priced from Rs 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 22.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The four-wheel-drive system is offered only with the 2.2-litre diesel engine option of the Thar Roxx, producing 152 PS / 330 Nm with the manual transmission and 175 PS / 370 Nm with the automatic gearbox option.

Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV

German carmaker Mercedes-Benz launched the Maybach EQS 680 SUV in India at Rs 2.25 crore (ex-showroom). It marks Mercedes' first all-electric Maybach and boasts a dual-tone exterior shade with bespoke styling elements, including a massive grille adorned with vertical chrome inserts.

Inside, the EQS 680 exudes luxury with soft-touch leather elements throughout and an MBUX Hyperscreen unit comprising three screens. This includes a 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, along with two 12.3-inch displays—one for the driver and the other for the co-passenger. Powering the EQS 680 is a dual electric motor setup that puts out 658 PS and 955 Nm of torque, coupled with a 122 kWh battery pack. It delivers a WLTP-claimed range of 611 km.

Mercedes EQS SUV

Mercedes-Benz also launched the standard variant of the EQS SUV at Rs 1.41 crore (ex-showroom). It features a sleek design with a blacked-out grille, a connected LED lighting setup, and multi-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it gets the same MBUX Hyperscreen setup, comprising a 17.7-inch infotainment system and two 12.3-inch displays as found in its Maybach version. Other features include a Burmester sound system, powered front seats, a head-up display, and a powered tailgate.

The EQS SUV is offered in a single 580 4MATIC variant, equipped with a 122 kWh battery pack mated to a 544 PS/858 Nm electric motor setup, delivering an ARAI-claimed range of 809 km. It competes with the likes of the BMW iX and the Audi Q8 e-tron.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II

Ultra-luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce has launched the facelifted Cullinan in India, priced from Rs 10.5 crore (ex-showroom). This marks the first update for the SUV nearly six years after its debut. Known as the Cullinan Series II, it features modest exterior tweaks, including sleeker headlights, DRLs extended towards the bumper, an illuminated multi-slat grille, and an option to spec it with 23-inch wheels.

Inside, the layout remains largely unchanged, though it now includes a new glass panel at the upper part of the dashboard. Under the hood, it’s powered by a 6.75-litre V12 petrol engine that produces 571 PS and 850 Nm, with power sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Rolls-Royce has also announced the Cullinan Black Badge edition, which costs an additional Rs 1.75 crore over the standard model.

Along with the aforementioned launches, we also saw special editions of several models. These include the Sportline and Monte Carlo Editions of the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia. Hyundai launched the Creta Knight Edition and Venue Adventure Edition, while Honda introduced the Apex Edition of the Elevate. Maruti Suzuki also launched the Wagon R Waltz Edition. Additionally, Renault released Night and Day Special Editions of their entire portfolio, and Kia introduced the Gravity Edition of their Made-in-India models.
