  • The Tiago and Tigor BS6 will be available with a petrol engine only.
  • The 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine won’t be upgraded to meet BS6 norms.
  • Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines will be upgraded to meet BS6 norms.

Tata Motors will launch the BS6-compliant Tiago, Tigor and Nexon on January 22. Bookings for all three models are open for a token amount of Rs 11,000. Apart from BS6 upgrades, all three models will feature a slew of cosmetic upgrades to differentiate from their BS4 siblings. Let’s have a look at them in detail:

Tiago/Tigor:

The BS6-compliant Tiago and Tigor come with a revamped front fascia with styling cues similar to the Altroz. On the side, both models remain almost the same as its BS4 sibling. At the rear, the Tigor comes with a new bumper while the Tigor comes with revamped tail lamps.

Inside, both models might utilise the Altroz’s sleek 3-spoke steering wheel and are expected to come with an updated infotainment system.

Under the hood the Tiago/Tigor BS6 will be powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine only. The existing 1.05-litre diesel engine won’t be upgraded to meet BS6 norms. Currently, the Revotron petrol engine develops 85PS of power and 114Nm of torque. We expect it to be available with a 5-speed manual and AMT.

Prices for the existing Tiago and Tigor start from Rs 4.55 lakh and Rs 5.65 lakh respectively. Expect the updated model to be priced at a premium over the existing cars.

The exterior styling of the Tata Nexon BS6 is almost the same as its all-electric sibling. Upgrades include a new grille design, headlamps, alloy wheels and tail lamps. Inside, it comes with the Altroz’ steering wheel and infotainment system, the Tiago’s bar-style instrument cluster and a new black-beige colour scheme. We also expect it to come with features like cruise control, connected car technology and auto headlamps.

Under the hood, the Nexon will utilise the 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine, upgraded to meet BS6 norms. The petrol motor develops 110PS and 170Nm while the diesel unit churns out 110PS and 260Nm. Just like the current model, we expect both engines to be offered with a 6-speed manual and AMT.
