The Audi R8 LMS Ultra is the successor of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 which has won 115 races and 12 national and international titles in the space of just three years. Bettering an already brilliant car can be tough but the engineers at quattro GMBH have incorporated a number of changes that are bound to make the R8 LMS GT3 even better.

The new car features CFRP doors (carbon fibre reinforced plastic) along with high-energy absorbing new crash foams. The PS1 safety seat enhances passive safety. An updated transmission provides additional reserves on long-distance runs. A new exhaust system with new catalytic converter helps develop more torque from the 5.2 litre V10 engine at lower engine speeds.
Engine cooling has been optimised by bigger engine oil cooler and transmission fluid cooler, and a relocated oil cooler for the steering hydraulics helps improve cooling at distribute weight evenly. Enlarged side air vents help the new R8 LMS Ultra achieve better thermal management and interior ventilation.
Reworked chassis feature bigger and wider wheels along with reworked suspension components reduce unsprung weight, improve brake cooling and better handling traits. The car also gets a new aerodynamics package with a wider hood graced with new louvers, a new front air diffuser to make it more slippery and a bigger rear spoiler to increase downforce on the rear axle.

While the new car will come competition ready with the above mentioned improvements for various race series existing R8 LMS GT3 racing cars can be taken to quattro GmbH for incorporating the improvements that will be seen in the 2012 car.
"We’re convinced that the Audi R8 LMS ultra will continue the successes of its predecessor, With over 40 customer sport vehicles delivered, the first generation of the R8 LMS was already a sporting and commercial success," says Romolo Liebchen, Head of Customer Sport at quattro GmbH.
