Audi India has announced that the Q2 will be launched in the country on October 16. The Q2 will be Audi’s entry-level car and could be perfect for those looking for an affordable model with the four-rings logo on the nose.

Disappointingly, India will be getting the pre-facelifted Q2 rather than the updated model, which was recently unveiled in Europe. That said, the pre-facelift Q2 is still a looker with a clean and taut body. Moreover, based on the recent teasers, Audi could offer the Q2 with plenty of customisations and body colour options. And in typical Audi fashion, the Q2 comes with a large single-piece grille as well as LED headlamps and tail lamps.

Even on the inside, the Q2 follows the design language of the older generation Audis (read: A3) rather than the touch screen-laden cabin found in its new-gen cars. The infotainment system also has an old school swivel wheel for its operation and this makes life easier while using it on the move.

The India-spec Audi Q2 is likely to utilise the 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine from the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. It develops 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque and comes paired only with a 7-speed DSG. The Q2 will drive all four wheels via Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive technology.

Pre-launch bookings for the Audi Q2 are open for a token amount of Rs 2 lakh. Early bird customers also get benefits such as a five year comprehensive service package, extended warranty and roadside assistance for five years. Prices for the Q2 are likely to begin around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It doesn’t have any direct rivals and will fight it out with the BMW X1, Volvo XC40 and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLA.
