The sedan is priced from Rs 9.30 lakh to Rs 15.09 lakh

  • The 2020 Verna will be powered by three BS6 engines: 1.0-litre turbo petrol, 1.5-litre petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel.
  • There are five variants on offer: S, S+, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Turbo.
  • The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol is only available in the SX(O) Turbo.
  • There are four gearbox options: CVT, 6-speed automatic, 6-speed manual, and a 7-speed DCT.

Our last brush with the Verna was when we heard about Hyundai’s plans to postpone its launch due to the COVID-19 scare. We are yet to learn the new launch date, but we do have our hands on the detailed pricing of the sedan, which starts from Rs 9.30 lakh for the 1.5-litre petrol base variant to Rs 15.09 lakh for the top-spec diesel variant. In comparison, the pre-facelift model was priced between Rs 8.18 lakh and 14.08 lakh.

Here’s a detailed price list of all the variants, BS6 engines, and gearbox options on offer: There has also been a variant rejig in comparison to the current version:

Variants 1.5-litre diesel 1.5-litre petrol 1.0-litre turbo petrol
S   Rs 9.30 lakh
S+ Rs 10.65 lakh
SX Rs 12.05 lakh
Rs 13.20 lakh (AT)
Rs 10.70 lakh
Rs 11.95 lakh (CVT)

SX(O) Rs 13.94 lakh
Rs 15.09 lakh (AT)
Rs 12.59 lakh
Rs 13.84 lakh (CVT)

SX(O) Turbo     Rs 13.99 lakh

As you can see, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol is only available in the SX(O) Turbo variant, paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox. This trim also gets some special touches such as a blacked-out front grille, all-black cabin with red highlights, different bumper design and twin exhaust tips. This engine puts out 120PS and 172Nm.

The 1.5-litre Gamma petrol engine is available in S, SX and SX(O) variants. This engine is either paired with a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Output figures are rated at 114PS/144Nm.

Last but not the least, you can have the 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine in three variants: S+, SX and SX(O) paired to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The oil burner develops 115PS and 250Nm. Basically, these are the same engines that power the 2020 Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Some notable features are front ventilated seats, wireless charging, TPMS, Arkamys sound system, digital instrument cluster, Bluelink connected features, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear disc brakes, sunroof and LED headlamps. Hyundai has also thrown in paddle shifters for the 1.0-litre turbo DCT variant, which even the Kia Seltos missed out on.
