Ananth Raj won both the races in the round 4 of the Suzuki Gixxer Cup in the open class while Amarnath Menon and Vishwadev Muraleedharan won each race each in the novice class at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai

2015 Suzuki Gixxer Cup Round 4

The fourth round of the inaugural Suzuki Gixxer series was held at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai this weekend. As was the case in the preceding rounds, the fourth round also was an exciting affair. It was a closely fought battle between Ananth Raj and Abhishek V in the six lap race. The level competitiveness can be gauged from the fact that the victory margin was just 0.09 seconds as Ananath Raj crossed the line first. The championship standings remain unchanged with Ananth leading over Abhishek. While the fight for the third position still remains wide open, with three riders within just five points separating themselves.

Speaking about the race, Atul Gupta, Executive Vice President, SMIPL said, “We are extremely excited to announce our next and final round for the 2015 season at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. Not only does this bring the races and excitement to northern India, we will also have the presence of the legendary racing icon Kevin Schwantz the 500cc Grand Prix World Champion of 1993 and a die-hard Team Suzuki rider for decades! Our racers, customers and fans will have an incredible opportunity to meet and interact with one of the world’s greatest motorcycle racers ever!”

In the Novice category (Below 23 years) it was Amarnath Menon who made a last lap dash to win by a slender margin of  0.068 microseconds  ahead of Vishwadev Muraleedharan, while in the 2nd race, Vishwadev got the better of his rival on the last corner of the last lap. In the fourth round of the Suzuki Gixxer Cup riders were given a free hand to improvise on their their braking, handling and performance. Around 200 enthusiastic came to witness the Suzuki Gixxer Cup with many of the spectators being Suzuki Gixxer owners. There was also a lucky draw for all Gixxer customers with one lucky winner getting a free Special Edition Suzuki Gixxer helmet. The next race of the Suzuki Gixxer Cup will be held at the Buddh International Circuit in exactly 3 weeks time.
