Formula racing is coming back to India in the form of Formula E’s fourth round – Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix – this weekend. The inaugural Indian E-Prix is the first of the four new locations added to the roadmap of the championship and it’ll be a special one for a host of reasons.
Sure, the event might be a tad bit more special for teams like Mahindra Racing and Jaguar TCS Racing, but it’ll be a crucial one for the only Japanese team on the grid i.e Nissan Formula E Team that achieved great strides in the last round which took place in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, and the team looks to build on that momentum as it targets a double points finish in Hyderabad.
The ninth season boasts a whole new generation of racing vehicles, details of which can be found here. But that isn’t just all that’s new. This season brings the biggest overhaul of not just the technology in use but also an extensive reshuffle of teams and their respective drivers. And so is the case for Nissan. And in all fairness, it is probably the team with the most changes this season as it fully acquired the e.dams race team in 2022, taking full ownership of its involvement in the series.
The team also departed with the season two championship-winning driver, Sebastien Buemi, as it has placed its bets for the current season on its two new drivers: Sacha Fenestraz and Norman Nato.
The rookie Sacha Fenestraz, just 23-years of age, secured the first points for the team in the last round and goes into the inaugural Hyderabad E-Prix full of confidence. Here’s what he had to say:
“I’m excited about racing in Hyderabad. The new circuit levels the playing field for me as a rookie. I’m looking forward to improving and learning at every race and getting used to the energy and tire management. I hope to keep progressing and finding the consistency needed to succeed in this championship.”
It’ll be an interesting spectacle to behold when the lights turn green at the 2.83km street circuit positioned on the banks of the heart-shaped Hussain Sagar Lake, tomorrow at 3pm. Keep your eye out for the rocketship draped in red and white as the team looks forward to a double-point display.
We will also be on the ground at the E-Prix to bring you some of the excitement, so stay tuned to our socials and the website for on-track updates.
