Gets a 2.5kWh battery pack and has a claimed range of 113km

BREAKING: Bajaj Chetak C25 Launched: Cheaper, Smarter, Still Very Chetak

Bajaj has expanded its electric scooter portfolio with the launch of an all-new Chetak C25. Priced at Rs 91,399 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is aimed squarely at budget-conscious EV buyers. The new e-scooter, as the naming suggests, has a 2.5kWh battery pack. Positioned below the existing Chetak 30 Series, this new range trades some performance and features for a more accessible price tag. Think of it as Bajaj’s answer to scooters like the TVS Orbiter, Ola S1X and  Vida VX2.

Familiar Face, Sensible Touches

At first glance, the Bajaj Chetak C25 looks unmistakably like a Chetak, and that’s a good thing. The classic, retro-inspired design remains intact, keeping the scooter instantly recognisable. What’s interesting is that Bajaj has retained metal body panels, even on this more affordable line. We were expecting fibreglass to cut costs, but the all-metal construction should add a sense of robustness and long-term durability – something Indian buyers value. It comes in six colour options: Racing Red, Misty Yellow, Ocean Teal, Active Black, Opalescent Silver and Classic White.

Battery, Range & Hardware: Keeping It Practical

The Chetak is powered by a 2.5kWh NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery pack, mounted in the floorboard for better weight distribution. It has a claimed range of 113km, while the charging time is a respectable 2 hours 25 minutes (0-80 percent). Expect a real-world range of around 90km on a full charge. As for the performance, the hub-mounted motor makes 2.2kW of peak power, and it has a claimed top-speed of 55kmph.

The scooter also gets a 750W offboard charger, which has a claimed charging time from 0-100 percent under 4 hours. Under the skin, the scooter uses a hub-mounted motor, paired with a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers, a front disc brake and 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends. Practicality hasn’t taken a hit either. It has a seat height of 763mm which should be accessible for most people. Ground clearance is decent at 170mm and the 25 litres of underseat storage is enough for a full-face helmet or daily essentials. The scooter is quite light, despite having a full metal body construction, at 108kg kerb.

Features: Does the Job, Nothing Flashy

The Chetak C25 gets a colour LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity, offering call and music control (enabled via the optional Tec Pac which costs Rs 3,000). It gets 2 ride modes (Eco and Sports), hill hold assist and a dedicated reverse mode. Sure, a TFT display would’ve made it feel more premium, especially since rivals like the Vida VX2 offer one. But if the display is clear, responsive and reliable, we’re not complaining – function over form works just fine here.

The Chetak for the Masses

With the C25, Bajaj is clearly targeting buyers who want a dependable, well-built electric scooter without stretching their budget. By keeping the metal body, offering a decent range and trimming features sensibly, the Chetak C25 looks like a strong contender in the affordable EV space. That said the bookings for the scooter have begun, and the deliveries are set to begin soon.
