Citroen brought in the Basalt SUV coupe at an aggressive price, with the base YOU variant starting from Rs 7.99 lakh. It is available in three broad variants: You, Plus, and Max and we have caught hold of a Basalt in the base-spec You trim in full flesh. In this article, we’ll provide a detailed overview of the same.
Interested in getting one? Read on, it will surely help you make an informed decision!
If you’re opting for the base-spec You trim of the Basalt, expect two shades for colour options including Polar White and Steel Grey. The one we’ve pictured is in the white hue as seen.

The front fascia presents a neat yet basic appearance, equipped with halogen headlights and standard indicators, lacking LED elements or daytime running lights (DRLs). Additionally, there are no fog lamps. However, silver accents flanking the logo add a touch of style along with the vertical red accents on the bumper.

The silhouette reflects its base variant status, with black door handles and ORVMs, and an indicator light positioned on the fender just above the front wheel.

The 16-inch steel wheels come naked, unlike what you see in the image, but you can easily add covers as an aftermarket option.

At the rear, you'll find no LED tail lights, a feature also missing from the higher-spec trims. Things have been kept simple and it doesn’t look as chunky as the higher variants due to the bumpers being blacked out and not getting a skid plate.
Inside, the cabin follows the basic treatment likewise. It features a black and grey upholstery with a teal blue trim insert on the dashboard, unlike the lighter theme offered with higher variants.

The infotainment set is blank with no touchscreen system, steering-mounted controls, and the driver’s display is a semi-digital unit. It gets basic amenities like manual air conditioning, a 12V socket for charging and front power windows.

In terms of safety, the Basalt You comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors as some standard features.
This You variant of the Citroen Basalt can only be had in a single engine option, i.e., a 82 PS / 115 Nm 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which gets coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission only. It delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 18 kmpl.

For the higher variants, you get a 110 PS 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine option as well.
The introductory price of the Citroen Basalt You variant is Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The prices for the top-spec variants go up to Rs 13.83 lakh based on engine and colour options you choose, detailed in the table below:
