Back in April 2025, Citroen introduced the Basalt Dark Edition. Now, the French carmaker is following it up with another exclusive iteration, the Basalt X. Teased recently, the Basalt X brings in changes to its exterior as well as interior, and subtle feature additions, while keeping its powertrain options unchanged.

Pre-bookings for the Citroen Basalt X are already underway across India at Rs 11,000. Here’s a look at what you can expect from the Basalt X, ahead of its launch tomorrow.

The teaser images highlight an all-black exterior theme, giving the Basalt X a stealthy appeal similar to the Dark Edition. Adding to the look are dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels carried over from the standard Basalt. Beyond this, the exterior design remains unchanged, sticking to the clean silhouette and coupe-inspired profile that sets it apart.

Citroen Basalat X Interior

Inside, the Basalt X is expected to boast a more upmarket interior. Instead of the regular Basalt’s all-white theme, it will adopt a black-and-tan cabin that looks richer. A new rear centre armrest with twin cupholders further boosts practicality, while teaser images suggest the possible addition of ambient lighting.

Citroen Basalat X Features

Most features from the standard Basalt will make their way to the X edition. These include a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, auto AC with rear vents, a wireless phone charger, and adjustable under-thigh support for rear passengers. It continues to miss out on a sunroof, which is becoming a popular demand in this segment.

On the safety front, the Basalt X will offer six airbags as standard, along with hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a rear parking camera with sensors.

Citroen Basalat X Powertrain Options

No mechanical changes is on the cards, meaning the Basalt X will continue with the same petrol engine options. This includes a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 82 PS and 115 Nm, mated with a 5-speed manual. And a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol producing 110 PS and up to 205 Nm. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Citroen Basalat X Price and Rivals

The Basalt X is expected to command a slight premium over the standard Basalt range, which currently retails between Rs 8.32 lakh and Rs 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Its key rivals include the  Tata Curvv, while it also serves as an alternative to compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
