Volkswagen Virtus GT Line and GT Plus Sport launched, priced from Rs 14.07 lakh (ex-showroom).
Both variants get blacked-out elements for the exterior.
The GT Line variant makes some features more affordable across the GT range.

Volkswagen has rejigged and altered the variant lineup for the Virtus sedan by introducing new GT variants, starting from Rs 14.07 lakh (ex-showroom). The new GT Line makes the “GT” badging and treatment more accessible, and is now available with the smaller 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. Both new GT variants are offered with blacked-out exterior elements, while the GT Plus Sport also brings in red inserts.
Along with the new GT variants, Volkswagen has also added new mid-spec Highline Plus variants for both Virtus and Taigun. The purpose behind this is to make some of the features more accessible and affordable.
Let’s take a look at the details of the new variants:

These are prices for the manual variants, and that of the automatic variants are yet to be disclosed by Volkswagen. Do note that the new GT Plus Sport comes at a premium of Rs 25,000 over the already existing GT Plus Chrome variant. The Highline Plus variants come at a premium of Rs 30,000 over the Virtus Highline variant and Rs 38,000 more for the Taigun.
The goal and intent behind the launching the GT Line variant is to make the sporty looking treatment more accessible and affordable. The Virtus GT Line comes with blacked-out LED headlamps and LED DRLs and black treatment to the grille as well. However, it misses out on the GT badging up front.
From the sides, you get black coloured 16-inch alloy wheels and black ORVMs to add to the stealthy look. The door handles are finished in a dark chrome shade and you get “GT Line” badging on the front doors. The rear sports black “Virtus” lettering, LED taillights and a black lip spoiler. The GT Line badging is present on the tailgate as well.

The interior features an all-black theme, with the 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking up the centre stage. It also gets an 8-inch digital driver’s display which comes with a red theme for contrast. To amp up the sporty feel, you also get red ambient lighting, aluminum pedals. The headliner and seats are black in colour, while the dashboard features gloss black accents.
Other key features include an automatic climate control, sunroof, auto dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, cruise control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold control, ABS with EBD and ESC.
Under the hood, it comes with a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine which makes 115 ps and 178 Nm. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Volkswagen GT Plus Sport gets all the blacked-out elements that are available with the GT Line variant. Additionally, it gets red inserts and red coloured GT badging to further amp up the sporty demeanor. The red colour GT badge can be seen on the grille, front fender and the tailgate. Adding to its charm, it also gets an Aero kit on the front, sides and rear. You get sporty looking red brake callipers as well. It is available in dualtone shades for a sportier appeal
The interior sports a black theme with red accents all over the cabin. You get black leatherette seats with red stitching, red inserts on the steering wheel, and red coloured ambient lighting. Further dialing up the sportiness quotient are the aluminum pedals.
The Virtus GT Pus Sport is loaded to the brim with features such as 10.1-inch infotainment, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital driver display, ambient lighting, ventilated and powered front seats, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, tyre pressure monitoring system, and hill hold control.
It is powered by the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine which makes 150 PS and 250 Nm. The engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
Volkswagen has also introduced a new mid-spec Highline Plus variant for the Virtus and Taigun. It is available with the smaller 1-litre engine with both manual and automatic transmissions. Its key features include an 8-inch digital driver’s display, auto dimming IRVM, keyless entry with push button start stop, an electric sunroof, automatic headlights, and rain sensing wipers.
Do note that the Taigun GT Line variants, which were already on sale, have also been updated with more features. Key additions include an 8-inch digital driver’s display, a sunroof, push button start-stop, aluminum pedals, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. Additionally, the Topline variants of both the Virtus and Taigun now get an amplifier and subwoofer as standard.
The Virtus’ key rivals include the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Skoda Slavia. The Taigun on the other hand, competes with SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and the Tata Curvv.
