Back in April, Volkswagen India announced a handful of new variants and colour options for its MQB-A0-IN duo, the Taigun and Virtus. Now, the first of these new colour options has reached dealerships as we have managed to snap the Taigun in this gorgeous looking Lava Blue.
Lava Blue is a colour that was earlier limited to Skoda’s premium offerings, the Kodiaq, Superb and Octavia. Earlier, this premium looking shade was introduced in the Slavia and Kushaq as part of special editions before making its way to the Volkswagen duo. This colour will also be available in the Virtus sedan.
Apart from the Lava Blue hue, both VW cars will also get a Deep Black Pearl colour that also looks stunning, especially in the Virtus GT. The carmaker will also offer a Matte Grey shade for the Taigun. It’s not just new paints: VW will also be introducing new variants for both models with the 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine.

For starters, the Virtus GT Plus will finally get a 6-speed manual transmission. And in the Taigun, the entry-level GT trim will be offered with the DSG that will be sold alongside the manual. And the top-end GT Plus will get a stick shifter option sold alongside the automatic. For a more detailed overview of what’s coming with both cars, check out this report.
Back to the Lava Blue Taigun, select dealers across the country have even initiated the delivery process for this new colour. Rest of the new variants and colours are set to be introduced in June 2023. The Taigun is currently priced from Rs 11.62 lakh (ex-showroom) while the Virtus costs from Rs 11.48 lakh (ex-showroom).
