This facelift aims to build upon the Taigun’s values, rather than disrupting the segment.

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift

Volkswagen is gearing up to launch its second SUV this year, and as we had confirmed before, it is the Taigun facelift that is set to debut on April 9. So what exactly are the changes in the compact SUV? Let’s take a look:

2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: What The Teaser Reveals

This teaser of the Taigun facelift gives us a sneak peek into what the design changes could be like. While it can be seen that the silhouette remains largely unchanged with prominent roof rails, a flat bonnet and a sharp crease running across the length of the SUV, this teaser also confirms the presence of a new design for the alloy wheels.

Besides this, we get to see new headlamp clusters which now adopt a curvy shape. There is also a reworked bumper up front with black inserts that make its fascia tie in with the design of its larger siblings like the Tayron R-Line and the Tiguan R-Line.

Comparatively, changes at the rear are minimal and we can see that it will retain its profile, although the connected LED taillamps get reworked detailing. The rear-end could also feature an updated bumper with black cladding and an illuminated logo as well for a fresher look.

About The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift

Besides these design changes, this facelift will add some new features to the compact SUV. These could include a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, an updated 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with AI assistant and rear massaging seats besides existing features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charger, automatic climate control, auto headlamps and cruise control.

Safety-wise it is likely to be offered with 6 airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, a rear view camera, front and rear parking sensors, rear wiper with defogger, All-wheel disc brakes and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Under the hood, it is expected to carry on with the existing engine options which include 1-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines. However, a major change will come in the form of a new 8-speed AT paired to the 1-litre engine which will replace the 6-speed unit on the current car. The 6-speed manual gearbox will continue to be offered.

Over the years, the Taigun has managed to become a favourite of enthusiasts shopping in the compact SUV segment and it's easy to see why. With its sporty design, mature and fun driving dynamics and a sophisticated feel the SUV is a prime contender in its segment. This facelift seems to be shaping up to take that legacy forward, but we will know more only when the debut takes place later this month.
