The performance segment was shown a lot of love this year with multiple pinnacle offerings coming to India

India doesn't really have a front seat in most carmaker’s list of priority when it comes to bringing top notch offerings. Slowly but surely, that narrative is taking a turn as this year saw a host of top-of-the-line products from multiple marques making their way to our shores. Let’s take a look at the top 10 of the lot that graced our country:

Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the most hardcore road going 911 made for carving the corners of a track. Interestingly, Porsche wasted no time in bringing the car to our shores as it bolstered its 911 lineup in the country. You can find all the deets of the various fins, wings and slats that the track-focused 911 sports along with the changes to its mechanicals here

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS is the product you get when you plonk a 911 GT3 power unit in the baby Porsche; and because this ain’t a limited-run model (surprisingly), Porsche chose to bring the car to India and we ain’t complaining! Our detailed launch article has everything you need to know about the track-ready Porsche.

The Huracan Tecnica is one of the last derivatives of the Huracan range and also one of the last pure V10 powered bulls to come out of sant'agata bolognese. It's something that nobody should be deprived of and thanks to lamborghini, the Tecnica can be had in India if you’ve got deep pockets. How deep, you ask? All details can be found here.

Ferrari 296 GTB

Ferrari brought the V6 hybrid-powered 296 GTB, the replacement to the F8 Tributo, to India in August. It was Ferrari’s response to the launch of the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica within a span of 24 hours and we don’t have any complaints regarding this salty behaviour!

Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae

2022 has been a year of goodbyes, especially for Lamborghini and its pure V10 and V12 power units. But before Lamborghini pulled down the curtains on more than a decade-long run of the Aventador, it brought its ultimate edition, fittingly called the Aventador Ultimae, to India back in July.

Mercedes EQS AMG

To everybody's surprise, Mercedes brought its first all-electric AMG offering, the EQS AMG, to India before it actually brought in the EQS’ standard iteration. But there’s a key difference in how the two are bought and sold in the country, the details of which can be found here along with everything else you need to know about the high-performance electric sedan.

Lamborghini Urus Performante

Lamborghini brought the Performante moniker to the Urus range and wasted no time in bringing the more hardcore SUV to our shores. Given that the Urus is Lamborghini’s best-selling model in India to-date, it only made sense to bring the Performante here. The quantum of power produced by the twin-turbo V8 engine along with everything else it packs has been jotted down and detailed here.

Aston Martin DBX 707

The 707 is the quickest and meanest iteration of Aston’s DBX luxury super-SUV to date and it can be had in India as well. Launched in October, the SUV packs some serious revisions both under the hood and above it, all of which can be found in our launch piece.

BMW XM

First standalone M model since the epic M1, the BMW XM is a big deal with its big grille, plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain producing big numbers, and its big size. All of thats ‘big and controversial’ on the SUV can be yours in India and you can find more deets on it through our detailed reveal story.

Facelifted BMW M340i

Probably the most affordable (it's a relative term) performance car on the list, the BMW M340i received a facelift recently to keep things fresh and was revealed for the Indian market this month itself. The performance sedan gets styling elements that will be seen on the upcoming 3 series. Head here to know more about the performance sedan.

There are a few iterations and models that haven’t made it to the list, but all in all, it was a good year for the enthusiasts in the country. We hope the momentum continues and we get more performance vehicles from more carmakers because we clearly have got the appetite for it.
