The mid-engined supercar sends 640PS and 565Nm to the rear wheels

  • The Tecnica bridges the gap between the Huracan EVO RWD and STO.

  • It borrows the 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 and rear-wheel steering setup from the STO.

  • 0-100kmph comes up in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 325kmph.

  • The supercar weighs 1379kg without fluids.

  • The Tecnica develops 35 per cent more downforce than the Huracan EVO.

You’d be surprised to know that the Huracan is nearly 10 years old today. But that doesn’t mean the celebrated supercar is on its last legs. In true Lamborghini fashion, the Huracan has evolved (literally as well with the Evo) quite a lot in the past with various iterations and versions. And today is a special day as Lamborghini has launched the Huracan Tecnica in India with a sticker price of Rs 4.04 crore (ex-showroom).

Although the Huracan is more popular and established with its AWD layout, the RWD versions always stood out as the de facto choice for hardcore enthusiasts. The Huracan EVO RWD is the standard two-wheel drive version while the brilliant Huracan STO is nothing but a racecar homologated for the road. The Tecnica bridges the gap between these two as it is not as unforgiving as the STO while not being as humble as the EVO.

Does it mean you get the best of both worlds? You definitely get the same 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 as the STO. This translates to 640PS and 565Nm to the right direction through a 7-speed DCT. If you’re scouring for the numbers, 100kmph comes up in 3.2 seconds and with a hard right foot, chances are you’ll see 325kmph in very little time.

The STO bits don't end here as it also features the rear-wheel steering setup, making sure it’s dynamically up there on the best of the roads. What also helps with that are improvements to aerodynamics, mainly thanks to a rear wing that helps the Tecnica gain 35 per cent more downforce than the EVO.

Differentiating it from the large variety of Huracans out there are styling changes to the front and rear bumpers. These changes along with the new rake for the windscreen and the carbon fibre bonnet are incorporated to aid better airflow.

All this performance also comes with updates to stopping power in the form of carbon ceramic brakes that feature specifically designed cooling deflectors and calliper ducts. Completing the aesthetic package are Damiso 20-inch diamond cut wheels with Bridgestone Potenza sport tyres.

As usual, there are different driving modes on offer - Strada, Sport and Corsa. But Lamborghini has made changes to the drive modes specifically for the Tecnica. For instance, the Sport mode has been set up to induce more oversteer.

With the Tecnica, Lamborghini has created a RWD supercar which can be enjoyed on normal roads, unlike the STO which will feel more at home on a track. Think of the Tecnica as Lamborghini’s version of Porsche’s GT3, while the STO is the GT3 RS.

Incidentally, competition for the Huracan Tecnica comes from all sides, the Germans with the GT3, the other and more famous Italian marque is readying the 296 GTB, while McLaren has the Artura.
