The AMG EQS 53 sedan is imported into India as a fully built-up unit.
Has a 107.8kWh battery good for 586km of claimed range.
Range-topping AMG model has a 0-100kmph time of 3.4 seconds.
EQS models will be followed by the seven-seater EQB electric SUV in late 2022.
The Mercedes EQS electric sedan has debuted in India and the range-topping AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ variant has been priced at Rs 2.45 crore (ex-showroom). It’ll be followed by the locally assembled EQS 580 4Matic variant in September and the EQB electric SUV by the end of 2022.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ rivals performance electric vehicles (EVs) such as the Porche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT in the Indian market.

The EQS is Mercedes’ first electric vehicle to be based on the EVA 2 dedicated electric platform. It’s a sleek flagship electric sedan with cab-forward styling and a curved roofline that ends in a notchback design.

Inside, the EQS debuts Mercedes’ new MBUX Hyperscreen – a single curved piece of glass integrating two 12.3-inch and a 17.7-inch displays – that occupies almost the entire dashboard.

Other features include a premium Burmester sound system, massaging rear seats and advanced driver-assistance and active safety features such as adaptive matrix LED headlights, facial and fingerprint detection and autonomous driving and parking capabilities.
The top-spec EQS is Mercedes’ first performance electric vehicle. It’s powered by a dual-motor drivetrain (AWD) that produces 760PS and 1020Nm with the Dynamic Plus package. That’s enough for a 0-100kmph time of 3.4 seconds.

All the variants of the Mercedes EQS sedan are equipped with a 107.8kWh battery pack that is capable of fast charging from 10 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes with a 200kW charger. The AMG EQS 53 delivers a claimed 586km of range, while the upcoming EQS 580 4Matic will offer up to 676km on a single charge.
