Spied Testing: 457cc Parallel-Twin Moto Guzzi Bike Gets New Design Details

Italian bike manufacturer, Moto Guzzi could soon be getting an exciting new entry-level motorcycle, as a heavily camouflaged neo-retro roadster has been spotted testing overseas. What makes this bike particularly interesting is that it appears to be based on the highly praised Aprilia 457 platform, potentially giving Moto Guzzi a sporty new offering with a classic twist.

Retro Looks Meet Modern Hardware

A similar bike was spotted back in 2023 as well, it had the same engine as the Aprilia 457, it even matched the engine casing colour, and also had the side mounted monoshock. These new spy shots could very likely be of the same bike, which now seems to be in an advanced stage of development. Up front sits a round LED headlight with a cowl, instantly giving it that unmistakable neo-retro look. Complementing it is a simple front fender, while the fuel tank area gets a clean-looking tank cover with minimalistic side panels.

The rear section also follows the classic roadster formula with a straightforward tail design with the tail-light integrated into the turn indicators, keeping things simple and elegant rather than aggressive. Overall, the motorcycle looks like it is aiming for timeless styling rather than flashy design elements.

Familiar Underpinnings With An Interesting Twist

Although the frame isn’t clearly visible in the spy shots, the bike is expected to use a perimeter frame, similar to the Aprilia Tuono 457, but with all the necessary tweaks. As of now it is visible that the test bikes gets an extended subframe. Suspension duties are handled by an inverted fork, while the rear gets an unusual side-mounted monoshock connected towards the end of the swingarm. Yes that is unusual, but also gives this bike a slightly unique touch.

It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, and interestingly, the tyres appear to be Eurogrip Protorq Extreme units—the same rubber found on the Aprilia RS 457 and Tuono 457.

Proven 457 Engine Expected To Power It

The engine on the test mule looks quite similar to the Aprilia 457 engine, and is expected to be the same 457cc parallel-twin unit, making 47.6PS and 43.5Nm. This motor has already earned praise globally for its refinement, strong mid-range performance, and engaging character. If Moto Guzzi retains the same state of tune, the bike should offer an exciting riding experience while remaining easy to live with.

Will It Come To India?

Moto Guzzi currently has a very limited presence in the Indian market, making the launch of this motorcycle here quite unlikely. However, if it does arrive, expect pricing to be similar to the Aprilia Tuono 457, positioning it as a premium neo-retro roadster for enthusiasts looking for something truly different.
