  • Renault-Nissan teased their compact SUVs for India.

  • Both SUVs will be based on CMF-B platform with heavy localisation.

  • Powertrain specifications not revealed yet, but expected to be offered with turbo-petrol engine options.

When it comes to compact SUV options in our market, Renault and Nissan offerings were absent in recent times, with the sector primarily dominated by their rival automakers, particularly the Hyundai Creta. Renault and Nissan have now teased their new compact SUVs for India. Here are all the details.

Nissan Compact SUV Teased

Firstly, both the Renault and Nissan SUVs will be built on the CMF-B platform, incorporating heavily localised parts. Additionally, both models will be available in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations, mirroring Hyundai's approach with the Creta and Alcazar. The carmakers have teased the design of both SUVs, with Nissan’s version appearing more stylish with connected LED DRLs, while Renault’s version showcases ruggedness, staying true to the carmaker’s design language.

Both SUVs are expected to feature petrol powertrains exclusively, as both carmakers have discontinued diesel engine offerings in India. While powertrain specifications for the Renault and Nissan SUVs have not been revealed yet, we expect a turbo-petrol engine option will be available.

Prices for Renault-Nissan SUVs are expected to start from Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, they will rival compact SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, and Volkswagen Taigun.
