Mahindra India has started exports of its popular subcompact SUV, the XUV 3XO. It received a significant facelift earlier this year, and the same updated version is now sold in South Africa. However, it isn’t exactly similar to the India-spec model, so we have listed down all the necessary details of the XUV 3XO sold in the Rainbow Nation:
The XUV 3XO’s pricing in South Africa starts from R2.55 lakh to R4.05 lakh, which equates to Rs 12.16 lakh - Rs 19.31 lakh in Indian currency. In India, the same car’s price ranges from Rs Rs 7.49 to Rs 15.49 Lakh. So, the 3XO sold abroad is Rs 4-5 lakh more expensive compared to the one sold in India.
The design language and styling elements remain unchanged and are the same as what we get here. The front features LED headlamps and C-shaped LED DRLs and the setup also houses the fog lamps, just like the India-spec model. To round off the front look, you get a gloss black grille and a skid plate.

The subcompact SUV sits on 17-inch alloy wheels which look sporty. It sports connected LED tail lights, a shark fin antenna and a roof spoiler.
The XUV 3XO is available in a total of 8 hues in SA, while the model sold in India is available with 16 colour options, including both mono- and dual-tone colours as well. In contrast, the South African 3XO gets dualtone colour options only.

The dashboard design and layout has not been changed, but the theme is different. It features an all-black cabin featuring black upholstery, while the Indian model sports a black and white theme for the cabin with white coloured seats.

In terms of features, it gets a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech features, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a Harman Kardon audio system, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, and a wireless phone charger.
Ensuring that you are safe are the 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts, front and rear parking sensors, and level-2 ADAS features. So the features list of the South Africa-spec 3XO is similar to what we get in India.
Unlike the Indian model which gets 3 engine options including two turbo-petrol and a diesel, the South African subcompact SUV comes with a sole 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine which makes 110 PS and 200 Nm. The engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Mahindra XUV 3XO sold in India takes on subcompact SUVs like the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.
