Could be available with Standard and Long Range battery options
New Compact SUV EV could sit below Creta Electric
Could be based on Inster EV
Along with the launch of the Genesis brand and feature reveal for the upcoming 2025 Venue, Hyundai has also announced its plans for a new India-specific Compact SUV EV. Poised to sit below the Creta Electric in the line-up, it will have very high levels of localisation and will target affordability and sustainability at the same time. Let’s see what it gets:
We do not know the exterior design details of the Compact SUV EV yet, although considering that it could likely be based on the Hyundai Inster EV, it is likely to get a compact footprint and a sleek exterior. That said, Hyundai is likely making extensive changes to tailor it to the Indian market while toning down the quirky bits for a cleaner look.
Another possibility that we cannot ignore, is the possibility of a Venue EV. Mind you, the launch of the 2025 Hyundai Venue is just around the corner and looks of which, were just spied recently, with Hyundai confirming some key features of their upcoming sub-compact SUV.

In typical Hyundai fashion, the Compact SUV EV will use premium materials inside for an upmarket cabin ambience. It could also use recycled materials, given Hyundai’s focus on sustainability.
In terms of equipment, Hyundai will be equipping the Compact SUV EV with a long list of features. The carmaker has confirmed that it will get a Level 2 ADAS suite and OTA(Over-The-Air) Updates for the infotainment system, while it could also see features such a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless phone charger, ambient lighting and a digital instrument cluster.

According to Hyundai, the Compact SUV EV could have an option of Standard Range and Long Range battery packs to balance the needs of buyers looking for affordability and practicality. It is likely to deliver a range of around 300-350 km, depending on the battery size. It is likely to be powered by an electric motor producing 100-120 PS of power, giving it brisk performance for the price.
Prices for Hyundai’s upcoming Compact SUV EV could start at a lucarative price of under Rs 10 lakh, and may go up till Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). While the launch date also remains a mystery, we are likely to see it hit showrooms around late 2026 to early 2027.

In terms of rivals, the Compact SUV EV will be going up against the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Kia Syros EV.
Given the dearth of affordable and compact EVs, this new Compact SUV EV has the potential to set the charts on fire! However, Hyundai needs to get the formula right with a compact footprint for dense urban confines while still retaining a long enough range for occasional highway runs, all while hitting the sweet spot in terms of pricing.
What, according to you, should be the pricing of the Compact SUV EV? Let us know in the comments below!
