About Kia Carens

The Carens is Kia’s mass-market 7-seater MPV for India and is placed below the new Carens Clavis, which was launched back in May. Post the launch of Carens Clavis, the standard Carens is only offered in one single trim, i.e. Premium (O). In terms of design, it gets boxy proportions while at the same time retaining certain SUV-like design elements like thick plastic cladding all around and a flat bonnet. Towards the side, it gets 15-inch steel wheels with wheelcaps and a connected taillamp cluster at the rear.

In terms of features, it gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 6-speaker sound system, steering-mounted audio controls, rear sunshades and tilt-adjustable steering for convenience.

Safety-wise, it is equipped with 6 airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, rear view camera, all-wheel disc brakes and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Rivals

While the Kia Carens has no direct rivals, being a 7-seater MPV, it competes with cars such as the Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion and Toyota Innova Crysta. You can also consider it as a more affordable option to the Kia Carens Clavis, which is positioned as a more premium version under the same Carens brand.

ZigSays…

With Petrol, Turbo-petrol, Diesel, EV and now CNG powertrains, the Carens brand is one of the most versatile 7-seaters on the market today. While the standard Carens is largely oriented towards fleet operators, this CNG option will offer a more frugal fuel option, especially for buyers in the Delhi-NCR region, which enforces a ban on diesel cars aged over 10 years.
