Kia has positioned the Carens Clavis as a more premium offering, equipping it with a feature-loaded cabin. Compared to the Innova Crysta, it not only offers a larger touchscreen and a fully digital driver’s display but also adds niceties like a sunroof. In terms of safety, the Clavis comes with a 360-degree camera, and ADAS. However, the Innova Crysta still holds its ground with a practical cabin layout, leatherette seat upholstery, and one additional airbag over the Clavis.
The Kia Clavis will be available with three engine options, offering more variety than the Innova Crysta. These include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol producing 115 PS/ 144 Nm, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol generating 160 PS/ 253 Nm, and a 1.5-litre diesel that puts out 116 PS and 250 Nm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed clutchless manual (iMT), and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
In comparison, the Toyota Innova Crysta is offered only with a single 2.4-litre diesel engine that puts out 150 PS and 343 Nm, paired only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Kia Carens Clavis appears to be a more well-rounded option compared to the Toyota Innova Crysta. The latter also carries a higher price tag, although we are still going by the expected pricing of the Clavis, which will be officially revealed on May 23, 2025. That said, the Innova Crysta continues to be a favourite among family car buyers, thanks to its strong reputation and overall practical package.
