October is a crucial month in the Indian automobile scene, as the festive season drives consumers to make new purchases. Carmakers typically seize this opportunity to introduce new models, offering fresh options for buyers. On that note, here’s a quick recap of all the cars launched in the first half of October 2024, spanning both mass-market and premium models.
After its 2020 debut, Nissan gave the Magnite its first facelift. The updates are limited to minor cosmetic tweaks inside out, while maintaining its starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelift includes a slightly revised exterior with a larger grille, redesigned 16-inch alloy wheels, and updated LED tail lights featuring a new H-shaped motif.
Inside, the layout remains the same, but the new dual-tone orange and black theme along with leatherette upholstery gives it a more premium feel than the previous model. It continues to be offered with the same 1-litre N/A petrol and 1-litre turbo-petrol engine options. Apart from 4-colour ambient lighting and an auto-dimming IRVM, no additional features have been introduced.
Chinese electric carmaker, BYD, launched the facelifted e6 in India renamed to the eMAX 7. Unlike before, the all-electric MPV now gets a three-row seating configuration, along with exterior styling updates. Prices for the eMAX 7 start from Rs 26.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and is offered in two variants: Premium and Superior.
Top features include a 12.8-inch rotational infotainment system, a fixed panoramic sunroof, and powered front-row seats with ventilation. The eMAX 7 is available with two battery pack options: a 55.4 kWh unit and a 71.8 kWh unit, both offered in 6-seater or 7-seater configurations. The former delivers a claimed range of 420 km, while the latter offers a range of up to 530 km.
Having been sold globally for quite some time now, the 2024 Kia Carnival has now been launched in India. The premium MPV was last available on our shores in June 2023, and now carries a price tag of Rs 63.9 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite the steep pricing, Kia received 2,796 pre-launch bookings.

The new-gen Carnival is only offered with a 7-seat configuration and a single 193 PS 2.2-litre diesel engine choice. Variant option is also limited to the fully-loaded Limousine Plus, which features a dual single-pane sunroof, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and two 12.3-inch displays (one for the touchscreen and one for the digital driver’s display), and ADAS.
Along with the Carnival, Kia launched the EV9 SUV in India. It is the automaker’s flagship all-electric model and is priced at Rs 1.3 crore (ex-showroom). It is positioned to compete with premium EVs like the BMW iX, Mercedes EQS SUV, and Audi Q8 e-tron, but offers a 6-seating layout with ample features, even in the third row.
Key highlights include an 18-way power driver’s seat, ventilation and heating for the first and second rows, massage function for second-row passengers, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, and roof-mounted AC vents for the third row. It is powered by dual electric motors producing 384 PS and 700 Nm, coupled with a 99.8 kWh battery, delivering an ARAI-claimed range of 561 km.
Mercedes launched the new-gen 2024 E-Class in India, with prices starting from Rs 78.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be sold in the long-wheelbase variant and features design updates over the previous-gen model. The interior of the 2024 E-class sees a major upgrade with the MBUX hyperscreen setup, which includes three displays: a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment and a 12.3-inch entertainment screen for the co-driver.
It is available with either a 200 PS 2-litre diesel engine or a 197 PS 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, across three variants. The E-Class E450 gets a more powerful 3-litre six-cylinder petrol engine which makes 381 PS. The 2024 E-Class renews its rivalry with the Audi A6 and the recently launched 2024 BMW 5-Series.
BMW launched the most performance-oriented variant of the M4, the M4 CS, in India at Rs 1.89 crore (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine producing 558 PS and 650 Nm, accelerating 0-100 kmph in 3.4 seconds. Enhancing this performance are the design upgrades including a 20 kg lighter chassis than the regular M4, lightweight 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels, and a tweaked suspension for improved cornering.
It is not short on features either, as it gets tech like a 14.9-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch driver’s display, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The cabin sports an all-black interior with M Carbon bucket seats and M-specific graphics for added exclusivity.
This concludes the first half of October 2024 launches, however, we can expect more exciting launches to light up the festive season.
