There’s nothing quiet about the VF7, except that it doesn't make noise (pun gone bad :p).
Not in how it looks, not in what it offers, and definitely not in what it’s aiming for. This is VinFast’s top-of-the-line electric SUV for India, part of a three-pronged attack that includes the VF6 and the funky little VF3. But make no mistake, the VF7 is the one with the biggest shoes to fill. And after getting a proper look at it, we can confirm, it’s got more than just confidence in those tyres. Here's a rundown of five things that truly stand out:
VinFast is offering the VF7 in two flavours: a front-wheel drive city cruiser, and an all-wheel drive version that’s, well, not shy about speed.
The numbers back that up: 201 PS and 310 Nm for the FWD, and a meaty 354 PS and 500 Nm for the AWD. The latter claims 0-100 kmph in 5.8 seconds, which is impressive for something this size. The 70.8 kWh battery is shared across both variants, and while Indian range figures are under wraps, fast-charging up to 150 kW is on the table. So yes, you can have both speed and sense.
You know how some EVs look like they were designed in a rush? Not this one. The VF7 appears to have been chiselled out of a wind tunnel. The lines are sharp but not chaotic, the proportions are squat and wide, and the front DRL signature, forming a stretched-out ‘V’ across the nose, lets you know exactly which badge this is.
Flush door handles and the dramatic rear light bar add to the high-end vibe. And the stance? It almost dares you to try and ignore it. Spoiler: you won’t.
Sometimes you read through a car’s features and go, “Cool, but will I use this?” Not the case here.
Everything feels like it’s there for a reason: ventilated seats for both front occupants, a proper 360-degree camera system that’s actually usable at night, and dual-zone climate control.
Then there’s the OTA updates, connected car tech, auto hold, and the useful stuff like an electronic parking brake and anti-pinch windows. There’s even a sharp HUD, which feels especially helpful since you do not have an instrument cluster.
Tech-heavy doesn’t have to mean cluttered. Inside, the VF7 keeps it clean. No fancy tricks, no overload of screens, just one big 12.9-inch display doing all the heavy lifting.
Instrument cluster? Nope. You will be glancing at the touchscreen and the HUD instead. Surprisingly, it works.
The reclinable rear seats add to the sense of calm, and materials like soft-touch plastics and vegan leather help it punch above its weight. Also, one touch up and down for all four windows. Feels small, but it’s the kind of detail you notice.
This is not one of those EVs that leaves you wondering where to store a week’s worth of groceries. The VF7 gets a 537-litre boot with a flat loading lip and rear seats that fold completely flat, making it genuinely usable for family trips or IKEA runs.
The rear bench is genuinely spacious for a family of five, thanks to the absence of a transmission hump. Someone clearly thought about the stuff that matters on a daily basis.
VinFast built one EV that looks the part, drives with intent, and, importantly, doesn’t forget the basics. From cabin usability to tech that does not try to outsmart you, there’s a lot here that just… works.
If they price it right (expected around Rs 50 lakh) and back it with solid service, this flagship could quietly outshine a few veterans. It may not shout from the rooftops, but the VF7 might just be the most complete first impression VinFast could make.
