This electric streetfighter gets a healthy 150km range and decent top speed

Hop Electric has launched the new Oxo e-motorcycle in India at a price of  Rs 1.25 lakh for the base variant and Rs 1.40 lakh for the top Oxo-X variant (both prices inclusive of FAME-II subsidy and GST). We break down the key features of the e-bike in six images:

Design

In terms of design, the Hop Oxo e-bike looks rather similar to the Yamaha FZ-Fi Version 2.0, more so because of its muscular faux fuel tank and streetfighter headlight. In fact, the motorcycle is a good blend of streetfighter slimness and urban subtlety.

Motor

The Oxo uses a 5.2kW hub motor making a claimed 3kW of continuous power and 185Nm at the wheel. The top variant packs a bigger 6.3kW motor but makes the same peak output of 3kW. While the base variant gets three riding modes – Eco, Power and Sport, the top variant gets a fourth ‘turbo’ mode. For the standard model, the top speed is rated at 90kmph, while the X variant is claimed to sprint to 95kmph.

The 3.75kWh Lithium-ion battery pack is common in both variants and has a claimed range of 150km. The Oxo gets a portable charger which can be plugged into any 16A socket. It claims a charging time of 0-80 per cent in under four hours.

Underpinnings and brakes

Its frame is suspended on a telescopic fork and dual shocks while braking is handled by single disc brakes at either end and gets a ‘combined braking system’ safety net. It rides on street friendly 18-/17-inch alloy wheels(front and back) and gets an impressive 180mm of ground clearance.

Features

The Oxo gets a five-inch LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, cruise control, geofencing, anti-theft and ride stats. It also gets a customisable dynamic regenerative braking system, which recoups otherwise lost power back to the battery pack.

This e-bike will go up against the likes of the Revolt RV400, Tork Kratos and the new Oben Rorr. It’s good to see more electric bikes come up because e-scooters seem to have become commonplace.  The Oxo will be available across 14 states and 500 dealerships, and you can book one for Rs 999.
