The teaser campaign for the next big launch from MG Motor India, the Windsor EV, is in full swing ahead of its debut on September 11. The latest teaser from the carmaker showcases a feature that has been added in the Windsor EV specifically for the Indian market - a full width panoramic glass roof that is similar to the one you get in more premium EVs such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
The glass roof spans through the entire width of the cabin, which would let in a lot of light. A point to note is that the Windsor EV’s donor car, the Cloud EV that is sold in international markets, doesn’t get this feature.
The MG Windsor EV is an upcoming electric crossover that will slot in between the Comet EV and ZS EV in the carmaker’s lineup. The electric crossover will boast modern styling elements such as connected lighting elements, funky aerodynamic alloys and LED lighting. To get an even more fair idea of its design, you can take a closer look at its donor car, the Wuling Cloud EV’s image gallery.
MG is yet to reveal the dashboard of the Windsor EV, but what we know is how the rear seat experience will be. You can recline the angle of the rear seat up to 135 degrees for added comfort, which is one of the highest for any mass market vehicle. The cabin will be finished in black with contrasting gold inserts and the seats get quilted leatherette upholstery.
Apart from the aforementioned, the Windsor EV is expected to get a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, powered front seats, multi-colour ambient lighting and a wireless phone charger.
Passenger safety should be taken care of by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control and ADAS.
Internationally, the Cloud EV is offered with a 50.6 kWh battery pack that powers a 134 PS e-motor, helping it deliver a China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) claimed range of 460 km. In other international markets, there is an option of a smaller 37.9 kWh battery and the claimed range for this option stands at 360 km.

It remains to be seen which option MG Motor India will offer the Windsor EV on our shores. The claimed range can also be different for the Indian marker as it will be tested as per ARAI or MIDC standards.
We expect the MG Windsor EV to be offered from around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts it in contention with the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 and lower variants of the Tata Curvv EV.
