Tata Motors recently launched the Punch EV, providing an SUV alternative to other Tata EVs including the Tiago EV and Tigor EV. With prices starting from Rs 11 lakh, it is offered in five broad trims: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+. If you are considering the Punch EV’s base Smart variant, you are in the right place as we will be explaining what it offers in this report.

From the front, distinguishing the Smart variant with higher-specced variants may prove challenging for you as it features similar LED DRLs with LED headlights (not projectors). That said, the DRLs aren’t connected, it misses out on fog lamps, and doesn’t get sequential turn indicators as the higher-specced variants.

In the profile, you will notice 'EV' badging on the front doors and it sits on 15-inch steel wheels with black plastic covers.

Not much changes have happened at the rear, where it continues to get LED tail lamps and the tweaked bumper from the higher-end models.

The first thing you will notice in the cabin of the Smart variant is the absence of the infotainment system, given that it's a base variant. Overall, the interior features an all-black theme with contrasting white elements along the dashboard. It gets fabric seat upholstery, touch-based climate controls, and manually adjustable ORVMs.

The Smart variant comes equipped with a semi-digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, an air purifier, multi-mode regenerative braking, front power windows, drive modes, height adjustable driver’s seat, and cooled glove box.
On the safety front, it gets ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.
