Pros and Cons

  • Positives
  • Negatives

KTM Duke 390

  • Improved performance means this is the quickest bike in its segment
  • brakes feel sharp and predictable
  • adjustable suspension handles bad road well even in its stock setting
  • lower seat height should make it more accessible to shorter riders
  • feels super light on its feet and agile when changing directions
  • you can barely feel any engine heat
  • even in bumper to bumper traffic and motor has become a lot smoother than before.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500

  • Torquey engine
  • Features
  • Highway cruising capability

KTM Duke 390

  • Some of the panel gaps are a little too pronounced
  • H-rated Metzeler tyres feel a little squiggly when pushing the bike hard and the signature KTM orange colour option looks too garish in this model.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500

  • No ABS

Q. Which is better between Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350. Please help to choose between Thunderbird 350 and 500?
  • It depends on your daily use. Fuel efficiency is better in 350. Easy and smooth commuters bike. If you want more power 500.. even higher then interceptor 650...If you plan for long tours and highway cruise then definitely 500..If you plan for resale after a few years, then 350 sales better in second hand than 500. All the best
  • 350is a commuter. But where as 500 for tours and rides. 500is fitted with EFI for better performance and torque at high altitudes. But in BSVI 350 which is having 6speed gear box, double cradle frame, duel channel ABS and digital instrument console and also with EFI is coming soon. Wait until 2020.
  • If u want an extra push and throttle feel and a sudden outbusrt of pickup and power 500 is ur pick bt for city diving 350 will do the justice

Q. Which bike should I go for, Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 or 500X
  • It's too good bike for touring or for occasional riding and for us mileage is good for 500cc 32kmpl and in dis the great thing is royal Enfield suit power exhaust only not only silent vibration
  • Several sites will provide you comparison charts of one against the other. both have SAME engine. BUT ,TBX has 1. tubeless tyres.2. alloy wheels3. ABS4. straightened handle bar 5. fresh look with the two tone colours ( if you are a chrome lover then tb is your pick) as TBX exhaust has no chrome. it's black. choice is yours. Happy riding.
  • If u r ready for a good maintainace cost go for it Only riding a 500cc bike in city wont be a good choice the mileage comes down to 22kmpl. Choose wisely

Q. What is the difference between 500 and 500x and who is better for me I am 5'7" - Thunderbird 500?
  • I mean ur questiob is about ThunderbirdX,it is the newer version with a colourful paint hehe, and an alloy wheel, but if u are a true royal enfield lover,i migjt prefer Thunderbird without colourful paint and without slim Alloy.
  • Both are same, you can get many color options in 500x and some design tweeks
  • No difference except cosmetic changes. Solely my views

    Engine performance

Driving this 500cc bike was fun.Engine performance was great with mileage of 30kmpl.Seat was not comfortable for long rides.Maintenance of enfield bikes are high.Specially the fuel pump will stop working after 5-7 years.Replacement from re service centre also does not guarantee a long running fuel pump.Rust on body parts is a major issue in re.Overall good to ride but high on maintenance.
