In this edition of Zig’s performance report, we line up the new Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Volkswagen Taigun with the goal of finding out which one has the best 0-100kmph and roll-on acceleration times. And to keep things fair, since the Elevate is offered with just the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, its rivals are also equipped with the base powertrain.
So let’s get cracking!

On paper, the Honda Elevate has the most power on tap while the Taigun is the torquiest. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is the least powerful out of the three. We have compared the automatic variants of all the three SUVs in this test.
Also, do note that the Taigun and Grand Vitara get a second engine option. The VW gets a larger 150PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit while the Maruti Suzuki SUV can be had with a 116PS 1.5-litre strong-hybrid option.

A more realistic way to look at this is the roll-on acceleration figures, which the Elevate leads over the Taigun by almost a second! The Grand Vitara, once again, in this section, is the slowest of the lot.
