Mercedes-Benz, known for generally making some of the most comfortable and stately automobiles in the world also has what is possibly one of the greatest motorsport histories amongst automotive manufacturers today. Being the inventors of the automobile. Mercedes Benz have been the car of choice for world leaders, movie stars and business moguls thus elevating the brand to what is foremost a status symbol. But, as there are two sides to every coin, Mercedes-Benz too has a side to it that defies every perception that it stands for. The AMG division, Mercedes-Benz’s performance division is known for it’s fire breathing, V8 powered, tire shredding supercars, all of which make the ‘12 year old child’ in all of us go crazy.

Currently, Mercedes offers the following AMG models in India : The C63, the newly launched E63, the G63 SUV the SLS AMG in both coupé and cabriolet form. According to our sources, Mercedes-Benz India plans to add to their salvo of product launches next year by launching the complete AMG range to India. Not only is this news a reason to cheer but for the first time, it means that India will be at par with most other countries when it comes to a whole range of offered products, especially in the niche performance sectors.
Mercedes-Benz is slated to bring the flagship S63 AMG immediately after the S-Class launch sometime early next year followed by it’s cheapest AMG model, the A45. Following that, Mercedes India is slated to bring the ML63, GL63 and G65 SUVs, which will be followed by the CL63, CL65 and the CLS63 saloons. The new SLS GT series will also be launched next year in both coupe and cabriolet forms. The two big launches of the year next year for Mercedes-Benz, the CLA saloon and the GLA SUV, both of which will be followed closely by their respective AMG models, the CLA45 and the GLA45. Mercedes will also be launching the SLK55 to combat the likes of the Porsche Cayman S, BMW Z4 and Audi’s TT. The legendary Mercedes SL too will make a comeback into the Indian market with its standard and both SL63 and SL65 AMG versions.

After a thumping salvo of new product launches in 2013, Mercedes-Benz is showing no signs of slowing down whatsoever. If the above is anything to go by, 2014 too seems to be a year of tremendous activity from the German manufacturer.
