Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced the launch of Ecstar, a global brand of lubricants, coolants and car care products, in India. The company claims that its high performance engine oils help in providing good performance and significantly improved fuel efficiency for both cars and bikes. However, Ecstar will only be limited to Suzuki products, which include all the Suzuki Gixxer models, Suzuki superbikes and Maruti Suzuki cars, including the ones sold through NEXA dealerships. It will initially be available through all the newly launched NEXA service centres and will eventually be offered through a network of 3000 Maruti Suzuki service stations across the country.
According to Suzuki, Ecstar provides a blend of high quality synthetic base oil additives that offer an improvement on the normal engine oil in friction characteristics, engine detergency and thermal stability. The engine oil goes through 20 stringent tests with over 8000 hours at engine level and 1,60,000km of vehicle level testing to qualify as an Ecstar brand.

The company also assures that Ecstar engine oil for two-wheelers has passed rigorous tests that contribute to improved performance by upto 2.8 per cent, and improved fuel economy by up to 3.5 per cent, as per tests conducted by International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT).
Speaking at the launch, Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, SMIPL, said, “It is our constant effort to offer customers innovative and evolved products that allow them to derive superior experiences from their Suzuki motorcycles. Ecstar oil from Suzuki is a powerful lubricant that not only enhances the enactment of its vehicles, but with its optimal lubricant formulation, will offer customers outstanding engine protection, a longer life-cycle for their two-wheeler as well as lower maintenance and fuel costs. Ecstar oil ensures durability and better performance even in unfavourable riding conditions like uneven roads, extreme weather conditions, combustion contaminants etc.”

Introducing Ecstar range of products to customers, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, Kenichi Ayukawa, said, “On our journey of transformation we have been bringing a range of new models and technologies. To ensure optimum performance of these new technologies we are now bringing a range of Suzuki global engine oils and lubricants. These products have undergone rigorous testing under extreme conditions. They offer great peace of mind to customers.”

The Ecstar brand also introduced a wide range of car care products such as transmission oil, screen wash, injector cleaner, underbody coat, etc. Same as motorcycles, the Ecstar high performance car engine oil will reportedly improve the performance of the car while providing increased fuel efficiency as well.

Ecstar products are manufactured by Idemitsu in Japan and Thailand, for Suzuki. However, the company will move the production here in India by procuring necessary products through local suppliers. These will undergo stringent tests to qualify their products to be included under the Ecstar umbrella.
