Three years since launch, the Citroen eC3 has gotten its first major facelift with the launch of the eC3 X today. It is priced at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while opting for its new Battery-as-a-Service plan will make it a lot more accessible. Besides styling upgrades, the SUV now adds some crucial safety and convenience features that help it compete with newer rivals. Here are all the details on what has changed:

2026 Citroen eC3 X: Price And Variants

The 2026 eC3 X is available with three variants called Live, Live(O) and Shine, with prices starting from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Here is the detailed pricelist:

Notably, Citroen has now introduced a BaaS (Battery-as-a-service) programme through which you can bring the SUV home for an ex-showroom price of Rs 6.89 lakh + Rs 2.26 per km.

2026 Citroen eC3 X: Exterior

The eC3 X gets similar styling upgrades as the petrol-powered C3X, which launched last year. Up front, you have the familiar face with X-shaped LED DRLs, a chrome grille, thick cladding and a large faux silver skid plate. What is new here is the addition of LED projector headlamps and halogen fog lamps that make it look more upmarket than before.

In profile, the crossover now sports 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, besides the upright stance and chunky cladding for a tough look. You also have black roof rails and black ORVMs with LED indicators.

The rear-end styling remains almost identical to the older eC3 with wraparound taillamps, black cladding on the bumper and a silver skid plate. 

As part of this update, Citroen has also revised the colour palette, and the eC3 X gets the following exterior colour options: Polar White, Steel Grey, Garnet Red, Deep Forest Green, Perla Nera Black and Cosmo Blue.

Inside, the eC3 X retains the upright dashboard layout with the free-standing infotainment system. However, there are some key changes that have made it a nicer place to be in. These include new leatherette upholstery finished in white with blue highlights and a blue insert on the dashboard.

There is a generous amount of piano-black trim across the cabin, along with a digital instrument cluster as well. 

2026 Citroen eC3 X: Features

In terms of features, the brand has made some notable additions such as LED projector headlamps, wireless phone charger, auto-folding power-adjustable ORVMS,  a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and an optional 6-speaker JBL sound system. Other features on offer include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, drive modes, USB Type-C charging ports and a 4-speaker sound system.

2026 Citroen eC3 X: Safety

Safety has gotten a major boost with the inclusion of 6 airbags (compared to only 2 in the older version). It also gets tech such as rear parking sensors, dashcam (optional), ABS with EBD, rear view camera, three-point seatbelts with reminders for all occupants and speed-sensitive door locks.

2026 Citroen eC3 X: Powertrain

Underneath, the eC3 X remains unchanged with its 29.2 kWh battery pack, albeit with a slight increase in the range, which is now claimed to be 325 km (compared to 320 km in outgoing car). Here are its detailed specifications: 

Citroen claims that the eC3 X can charge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 57 minutes on a DC fast charger.

Rivals

The Citroen eC3 X competes with the Tata Punch EV, but can be an alternative to the Tata Tiago EV and the MG Comet EV as well.

The eC3 was one of the first sensible small EVs perfectly suited for urban commute, but lately with its barebones feature-list and toned-down styling, was facing a sales slump. With these updates though, the micro-SUV now feels more relevant and looks better too. However, to become a major player, the carmaker has to do a lot more as rivals like the Punch EV are still far superior when it comes to powertrain specifications, safety and convenience features.
