Mercedes-AMG has given us a first look of the upcoming SL’s interior ahead of its debut. By the looks of it, we can confidently say it takes serious inspiration from the ‘best car in the world’, the 2021 S-Class. Also, for the first time since 1989, the SL will be offered as a four-seater.

The new SL’s cabin looks exquisite. Mercedes has finely incorporated traditional and modern elements. But there’s no denying that the design is very much similar to the new S-Class, which is no bad thing at all. The star of the show is the crisp 11.9-inch multimedia touchscreen which runs on Mercedes’ MBUX. Like the S-Class, the infotainment system can be secured by using your fingerprint.

The other design element this author absolutely loves are the turbine-style AC vents. Like other Mercs, they get ambient lighting within them that change colour as you increase or decrease the temperature. Also, the driver gets a digital driver’s display and a dual-spoke AMG steering wheel.

Naturally, this being an AMG, it comes with sports seats in the front with adjustable headrests. Also, the door pads have been detailed with high quality materials such as the metal speaker grilles and door handles.

For the first time since 1989, the upcoming BMW Z4 rival is offered as a four-seater. Going by the pictures, though, we can safely assume that the last row of seats are likely to be best suited for kids. You could squeeze in adults, but for short journeys.

Mercedes is expected to take the wraps off the SL in the coming months. It could be offered as an alternative to the BMW Z4 in the Indian market.
