Some of you may already know that British carmaker MG Motor is set to introduce their range of cars in India starting next year. Now, as part of its commitment to our country, it has launched an initiative to reconnect with MG classic car owners from across the country as the brand believes they are its ‘true and first ambassadors’.

The latest initiative will see MG Motor invite owners and restorers of classic MG cars and host them for various experiential events that are being planned across India to promote the brand. The carmaker says a significant number of owners have reached out to the company and have shared their excitement about the brand’s launch in India.
If you are an owner of a vintage MG car and would like to take part in these events, you can register through the brand’s social media page here.

MG Motor is currently owned by Shanghai Automotive Corporation (SAIC), a Chinese state-owned automobile manufacturer. Apart from the British carmaker, SAIC has strategic alliances with Volkswagen, General Motors and Skoda in the Chinese market. MG, which is short of Morris Garages, is a brand that was once known for making formidable two-door sports coupes and convertibles. The British carmaker’s portfolio consists of the GS SUV and the MG 3 hatchback, both of which are likely to be introduced in India. Check out more about MG Motor here.

Last year, the carmaker took over General Motor's plant in Halol, Gujarat. The carmaker plans on refurbishing the facility with state-of-the-art manufacturing tools and processes before producing cars for the Indian market. MG says the plant will have a production capacity of 80,000 cars a year in the first phase.
