The year of 2015 has been a successful one for Mercedes-Benz with the brand achieving record sales in the country. The German manufacturer managed to sell 12,502 units in India as compared to 10,201 units sold in the previous year. Bolstered by this growth of 32 per cent, the car maker plans to bring 12 more models to the Indian soil in 2016. In an official statement released by the company, the German carmaker stated that luxury sedans achieved sales growth of 42 per cent compared to last year’s figures – a segment that consists of the CLA, C-Class, E-Class and the S-Class.
Also, the SUV portfolio which consists of the GLA, GLE and GL-Class saw sales growth of 100 per cent, by far being the strongest record achieved in the segment by the car maker. Not far behind, the exclusive and performance oriented section of Mercedes-AMG and the Dream Cars portfolio witnessed a commendable growth of 54 per cent as compared to previous year figures.

Speaking at the announcement, Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said “Our unsurpassed product drive and the network expansion, supported by our comprehensive service and financial programmes, catapulted our growth despite unfavourable market conditions and a slowing economy,"
"Our efforts are not just limited to sales success or creating a memorable customer experience, but over the years, we have strived to create value to the society and work towards its sustainable development at large," he further added.

Replacing the existing models with the next generation variants of the same, Mercedes-Benz had launched three completely new model- GLA, CLA and the Mercedes-Maybach 500 in 2015. Company officials have mentioned that out of 12 products that the manufacturer plans to launch in 2016, some model do not have any predecessor in the India market.
With an extended effort to strengthen the network of the three pointed star, Mercedes-Benz will open 10 new outlets across existing and new markets. With the achievement of the record sales, the manufacturer marks the highest sales volume achieved since it involvement in India.
