India launches the New CLS 350 BlueEfficiency

Its sleeker, it’s faster and now comes with even more gadgets than before. It’s the all new CLS 350 BE. The new CLS-Class combines scintillating design with exclusivity and sportiness. With bold aggressive design language, elegant silhouette and opulent material and equipment, the world’s first four-door coupe is all set to redefine luxury again. The exterior of this German beauty conveys aggression and dominance with its elongated front and its governing radiator grille. With a body that gracefully boasts of its sleek lines and shapely contours the New CLS-Class is sure to turn heads everywhere it goes.

The interior is plush and spacious, with an exquisite instrument cluster. The multi-function steering wheel is fused with the gear shift paddles. The ambient lights in Neutral, Solar and Polar augments the mood to a different world altogether. Additional standard features provided in the New CLS 350 includes – the COMMAND APS with colour display with 17.8 cm screen diagonal, Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system, media interface & host of safety  measures including the ATTENTION ASSIST making it a compelling proposition for the discerning customers.

Added to the list of unique features offered as standard, the CLS 350 is also equipped with AIRMATIC Suspension to offer uncompromising ride comfort.  The driver is additionally able to alter the vehicle's characteristic by means of the damping programme switch in a broad range extending from comfortable to sporty handling. The ride height control is a feature of the AIRMATIC that enables increased ground clearance, on rough roads or difficult upward slopes as well.

There are a lot of firsts as well. The CLS 350 is the first passenger car in the world to offer LED High Performance headlamps, which combine the exciting colour elements of LED technology - with the performance, functionality and energy efficiency of today's bi-xenon generation. Then there is the newly developed and revolutionary technology ‘Electromechanical Direct-Steer System‘. This innovative “Active Parking Assist” system with integrated PARKTRONIC provides an unmatched safety to the driver. Equipped with reversing cameras the technology enables the driver with information for the most suitable parking space. It is additionally equipped to help with active steering intervention, creating a more reliable mechanism for better driving comfort.

As a part of the BlueEFFICIENCY measures used in the New CLS-Class, The Intelligent lightweight construction plays a decisive role thereby making this car the first vehicle from Mercedes-Benz to have frameless, all-aluminium doors. These are made from deep-drawn aluminium panels with extruded sections, and in comparison with conventional steel doors, are some 24 kilograms lighter. Apart from the doors, the bonnet, front wings, boot lid, parcel shelf, various support profiles and substantial parts of the suspension and engines are all made of aluminium.

And finally on the engine front the new car is equipped with a V6 Petrol 3498 cc engine producing 306 hp@ 6500 rpm of power and 370 Nm @ 3500 - 5250 rpm torque. Priced at Rs. 67.67 lakhs (Ex-Showroom Mumbai), the New CLS 350 will be retailed through Mercedes-Benz Dealerships across the country. Keep watching this space for a complete review soon!
