While it looks pretty much unchanged on the outside, the upgrades are more under the skin

  • Cosmetic changes consist of new headlights and taillights, revised grille, new bonnet and new exhaust tips.

  • Cabin receives a larger 11.4-inch touchscreen system and a layout similar to its Range Rover counterpart.

  • Offered with 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre petrol and diesel engine options with mild-hybrid and plug-in-hybrid variants.

Jaguar has just given the F-Pace SUV a mid-life update for the international market. While the updates may not seem noticeable on the outside the real changes are inside with more features on offer. It’s also now the first plug-in-hybrid model in Jaguar’s entire lineup. Here’s more on what’s changed:

If you put the new F-Pace alongside its predecessor, it would be very difficult to point out the differences. But there have been some tweaks in the form of a cleaner bonnet as well as a revised front grille. Take a closer look up front and you’ll notice slimmer LED headlamps with J-shaped DRLs. A new set of LED taillamps and exhaust tips inspired by the Range Rover Velar round off the cosmetic bits.

The biggest change is once you head inside the 2021 F-Pace, with the highlight being a larger 11.4-inch touchscreen with the latest Pivo software. While the overall layout is similar to the Range Rover, the F-Pace sports a cleaner setup. Other notable bits include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a touch-capacitive steering wheel borrowed from the I-Pace, and cabin air ionisation with PM2.5 filtration.

Under the hood, you get a plethora of petrol and diesel options for the F-Pace. Petrol motors consist of a 250PS/365Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, and a 3.0-litre turbocharged engine with mild-hybrid tech in 340PS/480Nm and 400PS/550Nm states of tune. The diesel mills consist of two mild-hybrid 2.0-litre turbo motors in 163PS and 204PS states of tune and a 300PS 3.0-litre turbo mill also available in a mil-hybrid trim. All engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drivetrains.

The plug-in-hybrid variant, named the P400e, generates power out of a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 105kW electric motor to push out 404PS and 640Nm.  The electric motor is juiced up by a 17.1kWh lithium ion battery and is capable of a range of upto 53km in all-electric power. It also supports  fast charging, with a 32kW DC charger capable of delivering 0-80 percent charge in 30 minutes while a domestic 7kW wall box charger can provide a charge of 0-80 per cent in as little as one hour 40 minutes.

Back home, the pre-facelift Jaguar F-Pace retails at a price tag of Rs 66.07 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect India to get the updated SUV later this year or by early 2021. Rivals include the Range Rover Velar and the BMW X5.
